BISAC is an acronym for Book Industry Standards and Communications, which is an established list of subject codes used as the industry standard.

To give an example, books on MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT are assigned the BISAC CODE of OCC000000; whereas GENERAL FICTION is represented by FIC000000.
