International CIP Catalog Service - $140

Schiel & Denver participates in the British Library's Cataloguing-in-Publication (CIP) Programme to create important records of your forthcoming book in advance of publication, for archive preparation in the world's foremost library institutions and thousands of others across the globe, including without limitation; the U.S. Library of Congress, National Library of Canada, British Library and the British National Bibliography (BNB).

NB: This service is different from the Library of Congress Control Number.

What Are The Benefits Of The CIP Cataloguing-In-Publication System?

Effectively, the CIP Programme enables S&D authors to bridge the gap from the commercial to the library book buying market; and works reciprocally for libraries, as an "alerting service" enabling them to identify and order Schiel & Denver titles of interest to their own reading groups and local communities. Schiel & Denver Book Publishers adheres to all current U.S. industry standards library, and we tailor book data to efficiently integrate with international library systems:

  • AACR2
  • UKMARC or MARC21 exchange format
  • Dewey Decimal Classification
  • Library of Congress Classification
  • Library of Congress Subject Headings
  • Genre headings for fiction
  • Authority control for personal and corporate authors

How Does The CIP Cataloguing-In-Publication Work?

By allowing Schiel & Denver's editorial department to provide the legal paperwork for a CIP archive record of your new ISBN book, you will ensure that your book's information is correctly identified, and Library of Congress Subject Headings and Dewey Decimal Classification numbers are assigned to facilitate subject access. We use powerful ONIX feeds to supply your archive information to booksellers and libraries across the world. Schiel & Denver also has access to the Pubeasy System.

Typical archive details include author, title and publisher, projected date of publication, pagination, ISBN and price. Schiel & Denver also ensures that all eligible material features in the weekly printed British National Bibliography (BNB) - which is the authoritative listing of books published in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. CIP archive records are widely used by librarians, both in the United States, United Kingdom and throughout the world as a means of selecting and cataloguing books.

NOTE: CIP Archive preparation takes place after Schiel & Denver has assigned your book with a worldwide ISBN with the U.S. and UK ISBN Agencies, Bowker and Nielsen Bookdata.
