Professor Ruben Javier Nazario M.D. (Author)

I have to confess, I am extremely impressed with the way Schiel & Denver is working on publishing my book! My experience with publishing books in my native Puerto Rico has at times frustrated me, other times it has infuriated me. I am extremely grateful by the opportunity to publish my book with Schiel & Denver! I received my copies of the book today, and I am greatly impressed. Your group did an excellent job.

About the Author

Prof Rubén J. Nazario M.D. is a board-certified specialist pediatrician in the United States of America. He holds the current position as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky (Kentucky Children's Hospital). Prof Nazario is the author of La soberbia venganza del verbo (2005) and Julia y Cuentos de invierno [Julia and Winter Tales] which is a collection of beautifully constructed counterfactual short stories, imagining the last days in the life of the famous Latin American poet, Julia de Burgos.

Prof Nazario was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1971, and graduated with a masters degree in Liberal Studies (concentration in Latin American literature and philosophy) from Skidmore College, in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Exhibited at the Kentucky University Foreign Language Department, Professor Nazario's book has struck a profound cord throughout the Latin American community - Julia y Cuentos de Invierno is dedicated to his sons.

Critical Praise for Ruben Javier Nazario

Literary Critic, Professor Mario R. Cancel of the University of Puerto Rico writes:

Rubén Javier Nazario is one of the most interesting narrative voices of this generation. The characters in Julia and Winter Tales show a number of diseases that reflect the absurdity of the era in which they live. These are places of mystery: the pitfalls of human sexuality, the misery hidden in an affluent world, the passions more crude or death where everything ends. Violence and death, sexual initiation and voyeurism, the folly and failure of rationality, the transience of everything and instinctive behavior that continues to guide the human animal in times of technological revolution. Everything is expressed through these thoughtful narratives.
