How do I protect my book's copyright?
Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U. S. Code) to the authors of “original works of authorship,” including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works, even when your book is only at the manuscript stage.

There are 3 simple steps you can take to ensure your work is safe:
- Ensure your work displays the international copyright © symbol
Print a correctly worded copyright notice (i.e "Copyright © 2009 Joe Doe") which includes the Year of Publication, and your name, on each page of your work. This will deter infringement, as it states that your book is protected under law, and shows that you take copyright seriously.
- Register your work with the U.S. Copyright Office
Evidence may be required to support your case in the event of a copyright dispute. As specialists in copyright registration, Schiel & Denver Book Publishers offers a range of legal registration services below, including U.S. copyright registration, Oxford and Cambridge University Library registration and Cataloguing-In-Publication to ensure you have verifiable proof of date and content for your work.
